BALANCER - HOIST CONTROL SYSTEM

Box Beam Crane Rail with Crane Column ManipulatorGot a Balancer problem? We may have the solution.

We have developed an add-on pneumatic device to replace the existing manifold on your balancer. We call this our Balancer Control package.

Balancer drifts down slowly?

When your balancer is left unused for a period, without a load, it may drift downward, bringing your end effector (gripper, hook, etc) in contact with the floor. Many balancers have an adjustment to compensate for this, but often it doesn't work well. Part of our Balancer Control package is a device that prevents the air pressure in the balancer from falling below that needed to keep your end effector aloft. The cause of downward drifting is leakage in the balancer cylinder, and our Balancer Control compensates for any leak.

Balancer won't lower fast enough?

When setting down a heavy load, often it takes a long time to drain the air out of the balancer so that the load can be released. The problem is worsened when the load is much heavier than the end effector. Our Balancer Control has a very large capacity for dumping air, and the air is exhausted through a valve very close to the balancer. If your end effector is very light and descends too slowly when unloaded, exhausting air faster is the solution.

Balancer lifts too slowly when loaded but too fast unloaded?

Our Balancer Control can detect whether or not the load is being lifted. If the load is being lifted, large volumes of air are passed through a big-ported valve. If there is no load, and only the end effector is being lifted, a smaller volume of air is passed through a valve with restricted flow. The switching between the high and low-flow valves are done automatically, without intervention by the operator.
