DISENGAGEABLE PNEUMATIC AIR TRACTOR DRIVE
Need to move a heavy load along a crane?
Tractor drives are used to move a hoist along a bridge or a bridge along runways. The force holding the tractor drive against the rail is provided by an air cylinder, controlled by a regulator.
This air tractor is unique in that it is disengageable from the crane rail; it presses against the rail only when movement is required. At all other times, the crane rolls freely, which is useful in manipulator applications (where there is a rigid arm and no hoist) or situations where fine movement is needed to align to a fixture, or where the crane must 'sync' to a moving part, etc.
The air tractor is adaptable to most brands of enclosed-track rail, and to many I-beams, by choosing the appropriate trolleys. Each tractor is capable of pulling a weight of up to 2000 lbs (900 kg), consisting of the load, the hoist, the bridge, etc.
Ordinarily 2 tractors drive the bridge along the runways and 1 tractor drives the hoist along the bridge.
The air tractor is made with a lightweight yet durable aluminum chassis. It can be purchased with a dedicated pendant, or the installer can create his own controls.
