M200 INDUSTRIAL MANIPULATOR / ERGO ARM
The M200 ergo arm manipulator can do what no crane can...position and hold a part in any orientation, even is the center of gravity is offset or changes.
Givens Engineering introduces the latest addition to our ergo arm manipulator line, the M200. This arm has twice the capacity of our previous largest arm, the M100. As can be seen in the photo, we are now offering very large arms that have impressive muscle for heavy work.
LIFTS UP TO 1400 LBS!
The M200 has an overall capacity of 200,000 in-lbs of moment taken from the column. This figure includes the moment caused by the load, the end effector and the arm itself. Typically, the M200 could lift 1200 lb (load + end effector) at 12', for example, or 1400 lb at a 10' radius. For even heavier loads, we offer the M400, which shares many of the same components with the M200. The M400 has a capacity of roughly 2000 lb at 14'.
HYDRAULIC OR PNEUMATIC POWER
These very large manipulators can be pneumatically-powered or run hydraulically. The arm shown has a reach of 13' and is hydraulic. Up and down motion is controlled with a hand-held pendant.
More typically, manipulators are lifted by air pressure, through a system of cascading air regulators, in which case the entire arm is pneumatic, including the end effector and the brakes, with no electrical control. Usually an end effector has a gripper and handlebars, often with some means of rotating the load.
Manipulators can hold a load in a horizontal state without sloping or rocking. They can reach into openings or under obstructions. Cantilevered loads, such as a long component that can only be gripped on one end, can be lifted easily. Complex rotations of parts are done more easily if the end effector is mounted on a manipulator.
Because every axis of a manipulator can be locked with brakes, it is possible to use a manipulator as a work-holding tool. Once the brakes are on, the load can be rotated to make checks over the part, or assembly work done.
