Lightweight, extruded aluminum crane rail. Ideal for applications requiring rapid or repetitive transport of relatively light parts.

Free Standing Crane w/ Support Structure

BRIDGE CRANE

◄ BRIDGE CRANES have 2 runways, a bridge and a hoist.  Since the bridge is continuously moving, normally its weight is minimized by using light steel or aluminum shapes.

The rails shown are enclosed track, which use nylon wheels riding on steel for extremely low friction.

Bridge Cranes can be floor mounted, as shown, or hung from ceiling trusses.

The support structure shown is made from standard parts mass produced at Givens Engineering. We can also supply custom structures including cantilevered or drop ceiling solutions.

Rating: Most operator-friendly crane type for light loads
Jib Crane

JIB CRANE

◄ JIB CRANES have a single enclosed-track boom that pivots about a central mast.  Normally they are floor- mounted, but they can also be attached to a wall or the side of a machine.

Floor-mounted jibs may require a foundation depending on the load and the reach.

There is an alternate style of jib crane that incorporates a second pivot at some distance along the boom. This style of jib crane allows more flexibility but at a moderate cost.

Rating:   Lowest cost crane style
Slide Column Crane (Engine Transfer)

SLIDE COLUMN CRANE

◄ The SLIDE COLUMN CRANE lifts completed engines using hooks.  The slide column is extremely useful in eliminating the swinging that results when tractor drives are used with heavy loads.

The slide column crane is a rigid column that will not swing like a hoist chain does.

For example, when "North" tractor is activated a typical hoist would begin swinging the load.  The slide-column crane eliminates the swing and offers exceptionally smooth control.

A slide column crane can also support offset loads, such as picking up a load from an overhead conveyor.

Rating:   For heavy loads, is the most operator-friendly crane type
