We’ve reworked our line of articulated jib cranes to move the balancer to the midpoint of the arm. This engineering enhancement offers 2 advantages:
- Lower weight and inertia at the extremity of the arm, improving speed and responsiveness during fast movements.
- Greater headroom at the end of the arm, where the maximum headroom is usually important.

Key Advantages of Articulated Jib Cranes
Articulated jibs, in general, offer more engineering advantages over “straight” jibs:
- They can reach around a corner or into an opening, and a straight jib cannot.
- A straight jib has a big problem with momentum if the operator is working in the 50% of the boom length closest to the column; an articulated jib has no such problem when loads are close to the column.
- Overhead inertia in general is a traditional problem with straight jibs, which is solved to a large extent by articulated jibs.
These features make articulated jibs ideal for workstation lifting systems, assembly lines, and confined workspaces.

Articulated Jib Cranes Rated for Moment Capacity and Safety Standards
Our articulated jib cranes are rated for their moment capacity, in- lbs. For example, an AJ60 has a moment capacity of 60,000 in-lbs. from the column. This ensures optimal performance and safety.
Available Articulated Jib Crane Models by Givens Engineering
We offer articulated jib cranes in these models:
- AJ35 – 35,000 in lbs. about the column
- AJ60 – 60,000 in lbs.
- AJ120 – 120,000 in lbs.

When to Choose a Straight Jib Crane with a G-Rail System
However, if you choose a “straight” jib crane, we recommend going with a G-Rail because…
- The weight of the boom is as lightweight as possible which is critical!
- Usually, our base plates are large enough that no foundation is required.
