Automated Engine Crane | Givens Engineering Inc.

Introducing our latest development, the automated engine crane. Designed to transport engines between build stations and storage racks perfectly every time. It is an overhead crane, travelling along a bridge with electric tractors, working with an AGV, all controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). With key features such as:

Operators can choose from 6 different dunnage (rack) locations using the control interface. Once selected, the PLC takes over.
The PLC directs the AGV to the chosen dunnage, determines the previous rack location, and picks the next engine in the correct sequence.
Limit switches create defined safe zones, physically preventing the crane from travelling on top of a stationed AGV.
The system also prevents operators from inputting incorrect coordinates, eliminating collision risks.
Advanced scanners verify the engine is fully unhooked from the crane before the AGV can move to prevent any risk of an engine being ripped off the hook.
The hoist provides 4 predetermined travel heights, ensuring fast, accurate, and repeatable positioning at every station.
Has a “Start Sequence” button to initiate automated cycles.
The system runs on our all-aluminum G-Rail, known for its strength, light-weight, and durability, along with our custom end effector designed and built by our team in Canada.
