In November, we introduced our latest advancement. Our pneumatically powered gripper with PLC controls enhances lift assist functionality. It installs second row seats onto a moving assembly line through the side of the vehicle, while the third row gripper enters through the tailgate to position seats on the datum. The gripper then extends forward and down to align the seat perfectly, while the remainder of the device remains stationary.
The improvement lies in the adaptive capacity, where a PLC-controlled system monitors every motion and ensures there is no user error. The gripper is then automatically adjusted to the correct position to accommodate variations in seat models, guaranteeing a correct pick-up and installation. Even with tricky maneuvering sequences, the device can fit in very tight spaces to align the seat.
The difference lies in the grippers’ use of pneumatic and electric actuation. Pneumatics delivers the force needed for secure lifting, while electric power allows for the precise tilting necessary to navigate the door opening and align the seat during installation. A lockable cylinder stabilizes the device during critical phases to enhance safety. Simultaneously, a network of sensors monitored by the PLC, ensures secure installation during every cycle.
